Back In Day 04:03
Back In The Day Back in the day our world was really changing Our parents freaked, our lives were rearranging Outlandish clothes, free love, drugs and more It was just the beginning, We had so much in store Back in the day we listened to the Beatles and the Stones History was being made and to us, it was known We had long hair, we acted like stars We listened to eight-tracks And cruised in our cars Well back in the day, our president was slain His brother and Dr. King, they didn’t die in vain Wearing t-shirts and sandals, and our jeans in tatters Parties, protests and love Is everything that matters It was our time to love, it was our time to fly Always had our music, thought we’d never die Knew the love we’d made would be our legacy Little did we know how it would turn out to be Back in the day we loved the Yardbirds and the Who Love was in the air and for us it was true Well Dylan wrote the lyrics for an entire generation Crosby, Stills and Nash Were another sensation Back in the day, we hated Tricky Dick Tried to pull off Watergate but couldn’t pull off slick Had our own battle, four dead at Kent State Death and dying students, We feared of war and hate Back in the day we never looked ahead Wanted to be young, or better off dead Music was our politics, we thought we were right We played our guitars, And we played ‘em all night It was our time to love, it was our time to fly Always had our music, thought we’d never die Knew the love we’d made would be our legacy Little did we know how it would turn out to be ©Scott Leslie 2017

God's Behave 03:44
Gods Behave Lord please save my tortured soul The devils’ coming, I’m feeling bold He takes me places I’ve never been Bellows fire and parts the wind Help me, help me, help me please Help me, help me, I’m down on my knees Help me, help me, save me today Maybe it’s time to find another way The devils outside and I want to go. He wants my soul don’tchya know Trouble follows throughout my day I hear the siren call I can’t look away Help me, help me, help me please Help me, help me, I’m down on my knees Help me, help me, save me today Maybe it’s time to find another way There’s no fire no brimstone here The loving’s easy I get my share Lord leave me I’ll be all right Save another soul, I’ll take the night Gods behave like the people who made them Gods behave like the people I know Gods behave like the people who made them Gods behave like the people I know Gods behave like the people who made them Gods behave like the people I know Gods behave like the people who made them Gods behave like the people I know ©Scott Leslie 2017

Heroes & Criminals Who’s holding us down, turning us back Our bloodstained bodies, fall in their tracks All we need is help, someone to care All we need is a reason, a reason to care Heroes and criminals fighting it out Heroes and criminals, I don’t know which Heroes and criminals, the meaning’s all wrong Because in this life, all heroes are gone Push our people back, back into the sea Treat us like dogs, for all eternity Threaten us, bomb us, and lead us to slaughter Feed us shelter us, it doesn’t really matter Heroes and criminals fighting it out Heroes and criminals, I don’t know which Heroes and criminals, the meaning’s all wrong Because in this life, all heroes are gone Use your weapons wisely, go for the kill If you don’t get us now, you never will Revolution is coming, can’t you can feel it near Behold the uprising, can you feel the fear Can you feel the fear Can you feel the fear Can you feel the fear Can you feel the fear ©Scott Leslie 2017

Song For The Living People live and die these days Thinking there’s nothing wrong The balance of life, a slippery slope Don’t ya know it Don’t you hear it Does it take so long This is a song for the living It’s not our time to die This is a song for the living Oh baby please don’t cry Sometimes I wonder what we’ve done, I wonder where we’ve gone Our lives seem so cheap and false Don’t you feel it Don’t you know it Have you done no wrong This is a song for the living It’s not our time to die This is a song for the living Baby please don’t cry Love and ignorance knows no bounds But I see the truth in their eyes There’s beauty everywhere I can see it I can taste it I can feel this song This is a song for the living It’s not our time to die This is a song for the living Baby you and I (Repeat last chorus x 2) ©Scott Leslie 2017

Post Election Blues Our country is divided That is plain to see Where do we go from here? What can we believe? It’s a post truth era And we have to do more Left and right are fighting We don’t want civil war I can’t take the fighting, the war in the street If our lives don’t matter, our nation is beat If we can’t resolve our differences, what will we do? No more, no more, I’ve got the post election blues Black and white dead on Also brown and yellow Fear causes our hate Violence is never mellow Why are facts so scary? To those who don’t believe Ignorance is never bliss The truth is not relieved I can’t take the fighting, the war in the street If our lives don’t matter, our nation is beat If we can’t resolve our differences, what will we do? No more, no more, I’ve got the post election blues We have to find a peace A way to work together We can’t be obstructionist We cannot fight our brother If we lose our way We’ll lose our country too The world will lose faith And we’ll be forever blue I can’t take the fighting, the war in the street If our lives don’t matter, our nation is beat If we can’t resolve our differences, what will we do? No more, no more, I’ve got the post election blues ©Scott Leslie 2017

Dark Sunshine Walking by the lake in the dark sunshine Hearing you sing a sad song I knew that we were just passing time You said nothing was wrong Our feelings were real We were blind, we were blind We tried to heal We were wrong, we were wrong Our love was so blue And we knew, we knew Out searching for a meaningful sign While missing dark clouds above Nothing was there for us to find Only memories of our lost love Our feelings were real We were blind, we were blind We tried to heal We were wrong, we were wrong Our love was so blue And we knew, we knew The lake was bathed in the softest glow The noises we made were so sad Both of us searching just had to know Why together we were so bad Our feelings were real We were blind, we were blind We tried to heal We were wrong, we were wrong Our love was so blue And we knew, we knew We’re on the wrong side of goodbye We can’t take it much lower Why oh why did we have to lie Noises in the right order Our feelings were real We were blind, we were blind We tried to heal We were wrong, we were wrong Our love was so blue And we knew, we knew ©Scott Leslie 2017

about

This is my second album and I think my classic rock and indie sensibilities are still intact. I am in love with and influenced by the historic bands of the 60's but listen to the best current rock and indie rock I can find. I am a fan of the Black Keys, the Rival Sons, the Foo Fighters and the Struts to name a few. I write the songs, play guitar and bring in heavyweight musicians -- Dave Scott, Brian Cunningham and Peter George to bring the songs to life. I am incredibly fortunate to have this kind of talent close by. I hope you like the album.

Check out the music video for the song, "Back In The Day."

about

Scott Leslie Vero Beach, Florida

I’m a self-taught guitarist/songwriter and my influences are from the amazing music of the 60’s and 70's. In the late 60’s/early 70’s I had the good fortune to be a part-time roadie working the DC area, Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York for a number of bands. They included; The Jeff Beck Group, Ten Years After, The Doors, The Who, ELP and many others. So I had some interesting influences. ... more
